Concept vision and strategic visualisation

The Design Sciences Hub guided the city of Mechelen in a preliminary trajectory for the concept vision and strategic visualisation of the transition of the 'Mechelse Vesten'. We facilitated inspirational sessions with experts focusing on project management to cope with uncertainty; urban transformation capacity through participatory processes; and strategic communication and storytelling for urban concepts, to finally propose a specific design concept and scenarios for the specific context of Mechelen.
Through the dialogical process in which a future vision is shaped together with the client, the design proposal is in this case not an end result, but rather a method to open up the debate about what the new urban territory of the Vesten can mean for the city of Mechelen and its inhabitants, and the functional and design requirements this demands.
